Ernie to earn big

Well I hope you all got rich from last week’s blog which tipped Richard Sterne to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa.
I was pretty certain Sterne would play well after some solid form and he proved me right with four solid rounds, coming from four shots back in the final round to overhaul the leaders Thomas Aitken and Len Mattiace, who both collapsed in the final round.
This week, it’s the South African Open which has drawn a quality field – one good enough to grace an event on the PGA Tour. It’s full of the best South Africans, from Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman, Rory Sabbatini, Tim Clark, who won last week’s Australian Open, and Retief Goosen.
I quite like Tim Clark. He’s been in top form in Australia and I can see no reason why he can’t win two Open titles in as many weeks.
Sabbatini didn’t quite follow through on two good opening rounds last week but he’s a player who improves the more he plays.
And you can’t ignore Els. Even though he hasn’t won for a while, he’s a class act and is easily good enough to whip this field when he’s at this best.
In the US, Tiger Woods is hosting his annual Challenge tournament. Of course Woods isn’t playing because of his knee surgery and in his absence the small field is wide open.
I think Hunter Mahan is ready to play well and at longer odds, don’t look past Boo Weekley, who played well with JB Holmes last week.
